Longest Sea Cave - 1700 miles in A Tiny Speedboat #21
Another instalment of our attempt to circumnavigate the UK in a tiny speedboat. In this episode we head south along the East Scotland to Peterhead, Aberdeen and Edinburgh. At Stonehaven we take Goodwin right through the longest Sea Cave in the UK. I'm joined by Eddy, who has again taken time away from his twitch channel to take a turn at the wheel.

1700 miles in a Tiny Speedboat - Part 20

Goodwin is a 1977 Avon Searider, a tiny 4m rib. Starting in London we've been heading clockwise around the UK, four years later and we're still going. With the hole in the hull all patched up we head out into the dangerous Scottish waters of the Pentland Firth. Passing Stroma and John O'Groats we finally start heading South along the East Coast of Scotland. We stop in at Wick, Berridale, Cromar...
Ditching the Speedboat - 1700 miles - Part 19

Something rather unexpected on our trip around the UK in a tiny speedboat, a jaunt on the high seas in an old fishing boat. After putting a giant hole in the hull it's time to head back to the Cockwells for some much needed fibreglassing. With our tail between our legs we peel back the layers to assess the damage. We also go to see rubber expert Andrew for a lesson in rubber history and to fix ...
Cycling almost every park in London in a day

An attempt to travel all the way around London in a day by bike. A complete Loop through back alleys, parks and quite a few dog poos. It is 74 miles, we are unfit but we are on electric bikes. Richard joins on his custom-made cargo bike, I am on the Engwe P26. Engwe gave us this bike to test out, free of charge, so I thought what better test than a very long bike and tricky bike ride. The bike ...

The luck finally runs out on our 1700mile journey around the UK in a Tiny Speedboat. As we approach the tip of Scotland we take on Cape Wrath, some would say it is the most tricky headland to navigate in the UK. Goodwin is an Avon Searider, a tiny 4meter ridged inflatable boat, made by in 1977. A few years ago a fixed it up and decided to head off on a jaunt around the coast. It's a long way an...

We finally head back out on our quest to circumnavigate the UK in Goodwin, our tiny four meter rigid inflatable boat. In this episode we head North from Crinan in Scotland towards Ullapool. We stop on Jura and take a look at the whirlpools of the Corryvreckan before heading to Loch Moidart, Mull, Skye and beyond. I've always wondered what getting stuck in thick Fog might be like, fortunately we...

Have we created the most well-equipped four meter boat in the world? In this episode we finish Goodwin's thorough refit at Cockwells adding more Raymarine gadgets and a giant new Honda 50hp fuel injected engine. This is the big boatyard, teardown, fixer-upper episode, it has been a long time coming. Will Goodwin ever go back in the water again? Several years ago I embarked on taking this 45 year old tiny 4meter boat around the coastline of the UK. I didn't know what the hell I was getting into. Now it's time to take up the kind offer of some maintenance by the professionals. Cockwells custom boat build...

The tow vehicle has become a crucial aspect of attempting to go around the UK in a tiny speedboat. Unfortunately time and towing have taken their toll on the trusty Landrover Discovery. In this episode we are landlocked and head to the workshop to see what can be done about it, and in the process we learn a lot about classic cars. A very big thank you to Larry and Mike at the Ferrari House for ...

Charlie and I continue our leg from Wales to Scotland in Goodwin, the tiny 4m speedboat. In this episode we pickup where we left off, waking up in Barrow-In-Furness, inside the walls of Piel castle on Piel Island. We bounce North in our tiny rigid inflatable boat. Calling in at Whitehaven before landing in Scotland on the Galloway coast. We spend the night on tiny Murrey's Island and wake up ea...

What some might call a dingy, I call a speedboat. The daunting journey around the UK continues. In this episode we leave Aberystwyth in Wales and stop in for a night on Anglesea at Ynys Llanddwyn before taking on the Menai Strait (thanks for the fuel stop Geraint) and on to Great Orme. From there we hit the bright lights of Blackpool and then head up to Piel Island for tea and a castle in Barro...

Going around the UK in a tiny 4m boat is a big undertaking, slightly bigger than I ever imagined when embarking on this over two years ago. In this leg of the adventure we're continue around Wales and enjoy the company of seals, puffins, a pod of small dolphins and Will who works in advertising. We depart from Milford Haven to head up the Cleddau river before heading out to sea. After a stop to...

It's a very long way to go in a very small boat. With our camping gear, petrol tanks and meat-based snacks we again head out to sea. We're circumnavigating the UK and have covered over 1000 miles so far on our wiggly route. In this episode we cross the Bristol channel and journey into Wales to see the birthplace of the rigid hull inflatable boat, Atlantic College, a school based in the 12th cen...

Is there a limit to how many gadgets you can fit on a small 4m rigid inflatable boat? I'm attempting to take this tiny speedboat all 1700 miles around the coast of the UK. In this episode I'm installing some more safety equipment. Thanks to a big gadget-shaped Christmas present from Raymarine I'm adding Radar, AIS, a new chartplotter with depthsounder and augmented reality, all into a very smal...
